Birds take on squirrel in battle that really takes the biscuit | Metro.co.uk

This squirrel must have thought he had hit the jackpot when he stumbled across a discarded savory biscuit delight, but one group of woodland birds had other ideas.

As the care-free squirrel nibbled on his lunch he was interrupted by the pesky group of hungry birds in a move that really took the biscuit.

The cluster of feathered friends surrounded the careless squirrel, while the ringleader of the pack made his move for the prize bounty.

As the feisty creature clamped down on one side of the biscuit, the pair locked into an unexpected tug-of-war in a fight to the finish.

The encounter took place at Etosha National Park, Namibia, and was caught on camera by wildlife photographer Ignacio Yufera.

While England's grey squirrels have widely been blamed for decreasing British bird numbers over the last 40 years, it seems it may be the opposite in South Africa.

Good for the birds. Around here the squirrels usually win all contests.
